Lake Powell

we ventured to lake powell this past weekend with 3 other couples
our friends Abby and Chris put the whole trip together and brought up 2 other couples from flagstaff where they all live.
It was such a fun trip, dane and i have never been to lake powell and we loved it.
when can we go back?
It was an eventful trip:
getting stuck in the sand, boats breaking down, wind and lots of wind, annoying neighbors, wakeboarding, water weenie-ing, boating and lots of sun.
our beach camp set up
holding up the orange flag
dane wakeboarding.
he was so good and taught me how :)
I wasn't as good, but I did get up on my 3rd try woohoo!
It was awkward but fun, I kept trying to get low like surfing or snowboarding.
Hopefully I'll get it soon maybe next time...
here is chris and abby that put it together. they are awesome!
My favorite moment happened just after this picture...
the girls got on the water weenie for a "leisurely" ride to fill the boat up with gas.
we ran into a few bumps and turns that wouldn't be categorized with leisure but still we were having fun. We are moving along when we pass the gas station and we keep going and going towards the dam
(where huge catfish are supposed to hang out)
When we first headed out one of the girls said how she felt safe because Dane was watching us and wouldn't let Chris do anything crazy because he knew I wouldn't like that. A compliment to my man, thank you.
Then.. Dane switches to the driver and he was the only one turning around to make sure we were still on board. When he starts to drive the boat no one, and i mean no one is turning around to look at us. the girls all started talking about how if we fall off they wouldn't even know.
then we came up with what we thought was the best plan ever..
jump off! to see how long it takes them to notice.
So 2 go to the right and 2 go to the left and we bailed.
We were hysterically laughing and we see the boat keep going and going and going.. and they have no idea! we clump together in the water laughing and watching the boat get further and further away.
As they get pretty far we stop laughing and see a boat coming toward us. We are waving our hands and they went right past us.
We see the boys whip around and fly toward us with the flag up.
I guess on the boat dane turned around as he was driving and noticed we were gone. It was the funniest moment and I don't give it justice.
it was awesome.

surfing

after our honeymoon we stayed a little longer in california with my family and my dad took dane and I surfing. It was so much fun :) I tried to load the video but I just don't have patience today, i'll try again some other time
but here are some pictures

the honeymoon

dane and i had a wonderful honeymoon
we were completely spoiled
we jumped on the plane and headed to Kauai for the north shore in princeville with a whole house to ourselves.

we went snorkeling almost everyday, hiking, swimming, on a boat tour, chasing turtles, monk seals popping up trying to share our beach space, more hiking, and plenty of sleeping and eating :) my favorite things.

at hanalei bay, so beautiful and calm

we went on a boat tour and it was fantastic. check out that water! mm we loved that.
the crew on the boat is awesome they are hilarious. I highly recommend a boat tour on kauai. You see things that you wouldn't be able to see from the island
the na pali coast hike is normally 2 miles to the beach, 2 miles back.
we went on the 2 miles to the beach then 2 more miles in the waterfalls and it was a trip. jumping boulders and getting lost off the trail but the waterfall was gorgeous. Dane jumped in but I am too much of a wimp (it was cold!)
round trip the total was 8 miles.
because we were so smart, we only took one water bottle each and left food in the cooler back at the car. I was dying and so hungry, dane was too but he is a lot tougher than I am.
I am surprised I made it back out. Plus I was hiking in my moms boots that are a tad small and the bottom started ripping off on mile 3. yay. :/
at the falls
this has to be one of my favorite pictures of the 2 of us
i think everyone looks ridiculous in goggles. especially when you try and smile.
we love snorkel faces
our favorite was eating at bubbas burgers (3x) and getting teriyaki burgers plus onion rings are to die for. I want some again very soon..
and to top it off with some shave ice from the Wishing Well truck.
Make sure you have your order right or else the mean woman who works there will yell at you. It is kind of like the soup nazi.
but man, that shave ice was amazing and you add a snow cap (condensed milk) on the top. delish.

what a beautiful day

dane and i were married on May 15th, 2010 in Newport Beach Temple
It was such a fun day
from the morning to the evening we both had a blast and we know our families did too.
we are so grateful for our families and everyone that was involved with helping us start our lives together.
I am finally back to blogging after being so far behind.
I'll start mostly with pictures that I need to update and let them speak for themselves...

the temple group shot
we had such an amazing group with us at the temple
thank you!

with dane's family, they are so great

i love my family and my parents are awesome.
I was in love with the flowers. They were absolutely beautiful! Aubrey did such an incredible job, thank you! everyone loved them and enjoyed them as much as I did.
I know the groomsmen loved eating their boutonnieres after (mmm kumquats)
of course i had to snap one with my pup :)
